Photo Emulation
Ben Baker
Ben Baker is a photographer from Australia that is still alive and working today. He is a commercial photographer who takes portraits of accomplished people. He really loves people and has photographed all kinds of people such as musicians, political figures, sports celebrities, comedians, actors actresses, and the president. He has photographed for Fortune magazine, Parade, Time, Bloomburg, and Businessweek. He has traveled all around the world for work. I chose this artist because his work is portraits that portray the person by the setting of the picture.
Analysis
This photo is of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. The angle of this image is straight on. This photo follows the rule of thirds with their heads in the top third and nothing in the center vertical third. The focal point is clearly the Olsen twins in this photo. This photo engages the reader because they are both looking directly at the camera. It is a common point of view. Their facial expressions and body positions are very closed off and they look guilty and revengeful.

My emulation is similar to the image on the left. Me and my sister are not identical twins and we have brown and auburn hair instead of blonde. The lighting in my image is not as bright as well. Our outfits are similar but not exactly like the ones in the original picture. I followed the rule of thirds the same way as the original photographer and shot this image straight on. The focal point of my photo is me and my sister, same as the Olsen twins photo. I attempted to create similar body positions and facial expressions to portray the same emotions as well. The composition of my emulation is the most successful part of my photo. To improve my photo I could adjust the lighting and make the body positions and facial expressions more exact.
