Falling Leaves
This picture is of my sister and was used for the motion assignment. This picture has bright colors and the sunlight shines at a captivating angle. I took this photo by lying on the ground a considerate distance from my subject. I used a fast shutter speed to capture the leaves frozen in the action of falling from her hands. The photo was taken with the consideration of line and shape. The barn makes a triangle on top of a square. This picture has an interesting positive and negative space. The positive space is the barn and my sister, while the negative space is the sky above the barn. This photo also is interesting due to the visible texture of the barn. I like the mood of this photo since it is gleeful because the subject is having fun by throwing leaves into the air.
Street Sign
This picture was taken of my street sign for the line and shape. I took this picture really close to get stronger definition of the lines. This photo also has triangles and rectangular shapes. The photo was taken with the consideration of the rule of thirds. This picture's point of view is from underneath the sign but very close to it. There is positive and negative space in the photo. The positive space is the sign, while the negative space is sky in the background. This photo also is appealing due to the sharpness of the edges of the sign. I like the feeling of this photo due to it being of striking color, angles, and shape.
City Building
I took this picture in Fall River, Massachusetts for the Scapes assignment. This picture has an interesting point of view. I took this picture from the bottom of building to get a more intimidating look of the building I used . The photo was taken with the consideration of line and shape. The sky and the way the building fits into the frame makes triangles. There is positive and negative space in this photo. The positive space is the building, while the negative space is the sky. This photo also is interesting due to the sharpness of the lines that make up the building and the occasional reflection of part of the building in the windows. I like this photo because it is an impressive angle of this menacing building.
Frozen Pond
I took this picture on North Street in Somerset for the Scapes assignment. I framed the pond with the trees that were in that area to lead your eye through the unruly trees to the frozen pond. I really liked the texture of the leaves covering the ground around the pond. The photo was taken with the consideration of the rule of thirds. I placed the pond in the middle third with the sky in the back third and ground in the very front. I shot the image straight on making the pond look as if it was created at the opening of a path of trees. This photo has positive and negative space. The positive space is the trees and the pond along with the ground in front of the pond, while the negative space is in between the branches of the tree. This photo also is captivating due to the secretive, reserved mood of the pond area. I like the abnormality of this photo created by the scene that I came across while driving one day.
Capturing Light
I took this picture in front of my house for the line and shape assignment. I had the leaf be in focus in this picture while the background is slightly blurry to make the light coming through the leaf more prominent . I used the angle the sunlight was coming from at that time of day to get the silhouette of some sections of leaf to show through other sections making this picture more striking. I considered the rule of thirds when taking this photo by having the large leaf in the direct center third of this shot. the irregular shape of the leaf gives interest to the photo by not having the normality for all the shapes of the image. There is positive and negative space in this photo. The leaves are the positive space, while the spaces in the leaves that allow sunlight to stream through provide the negative space. This photo also is pleasing due to the softness of the light and the vibrant colors of the leaves. I like the mood of this photo because it has a delicate feel to it.
Chair Shadow
I took this picture in my house after sunset for the shadow assignment. I put this picture in black and white to make the shadows more prominent . I used all the lights from the bathroom to have light coming from an angle to hit the chair in a specific way. The photo was taken with the consideration of the rule of thirds. This picture has an interesting point of view. I shot the image from above making the chairs seem smaller than it really is. There is some positive and negative space in the photo. The positive space is the chair and the shadow, while the negative space is in between the bars of the chair and spaces of the shadow. This photo also is interesting due to the sharpness of the chair and the blur of the shadow. I like the mood of this photo because it is eerie because there are parts of the chair and shadow cut out.
